My way of survival

Hello, I am Andrea a glass artist based in Nicosia Cyprus

My artistic Identity was always connected with glass.

Glass is made out of sand, it’s part of nature, recreated through my vision of prospective into specific forms and textures by using different techniques.

Energy and light travels through the purity of the material and deeply connects my spirit, mind and soul with the earthly vibes.

And this identifies my existence provoking me to keep evolving and experimenting...

About Artist

Andrea Charalambides was born in London, receiving the technical diploma in GlassBlowing as a Glassapparatebauerin in Darmstadt, Germany, in 1992.

In 1992, Mrs Charalambides worked as a glassblower in a glass apparatus company in Karlsruhe. Since her return to her homeland Cyprus, Andrea Charalambides has been owing her own glass workshop, teaching as well as attending glass seminars abroad under the supervision of worldwide recognised artists. Her creative process and art practice as well as the methods used, have been enriched through her engagement with casting and kiln forming glass.

Her avocation with abstract painting has become the turning point of Mrs Charalambides’s practice which has marked the beginning of a new era of her artistic career. She created an innovation, panting on metal incorporating either blown glass or kiln casting glass on them and having hidden led lighting the glassworks. She continues now creating glass sculptures using different glass fusing, casting and kiln forming techniques. In some of her new glass sculptures she incorporates led light in the custom made metal bases under the glass.

Until today she participated in several group exhibitions and had four solo exhibitions.
